Welcome to the 2015-16 school year. For many of you, it is a welcome back and a continuation of all the exciting things that North Mecklenburg has to offer. For others this will be a new journey filled with excitement and questions. Our entire school team looks forward to partnering with you to assist you and your student in having a successful school year.
We have much to celebrate as a school, as North Mecklenburg has been recognized as a Magnet IB School of Distinction. Our graduation rate continues to climb above 92% beating both state and district averages. Additionally, North Mecklenburg has been selected to participate in a Personalized Learning Environment initiative sponsored by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. We will provide students and parents more information on this initiative throughout the year.
North Mecklenburg is committed to providing all students with a solid foundation in order to support their preparation for career and college ready opportunities. As a school, we will continue to raise the bar of high academic standards, by developing critical thinking and effective communication skills, and integrating technology within our curriculum. Our IB and AP programs continue to excel and the opportunities for students in the Career and Technical Institute are expanding as students are exposed to internships and apprenticeships within our own community.
in addition, we would like to encourage parents and guardians to take an active role with school leadership organizations and/or any volunteer opportunities that arise.
